Common pet fish problems

Below are seven common reasons why beginners fail in their first attempt at keeping pet fish in an aquarium:

  1. Too many fish too soon after setting up their aquarium.
  2. Not enough partial water change.
  3. Too much food or poor quality food.
  4. Silly things like using window cleaner to clean the glass.
  5. Shops selling the wrong types of fish to go together.
  6. Not being patient in the first couple of months.
  7. Getting the wrong advice!

Fish can also be stressed due to transport, and bad water quality issues can bring on many diseases.
Determine which disease your fish has by closely observing the symptoms and then treat if necessary.
